ignition switch replacement

Post by chris0691 »

My ignition switch has died so have come to replace it and I'm having a bit of trouble. Would I be right in that you need to remove the steering wheel to remove the column cover? And this may sound incredibly stupid but is there something I'm missing in trying to remove the wheel? Took the horn cover off and removed the centre nut but it's not shifting. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

You need to use a puller to get the wheel off or you will kipper the steering column..........

There are two threaded holes either side of the splined shaft for screwing in a puller. Never try to "knock" it off.

Cheers both. I'm used to British leylands until the nut and the wheel will fall off.

It's tight on a taper until you pull it a knats, and then it slides off the splines.
