C-Body service kits?

Post by Hearseman »

Afternoon all.

Just back on the scene after a 6 year fling with a VW.
Could anybody tell me where I can go about getting plugs/ cap/ leads and the rest of the bits to give my fugly '71 Dodge Polara 383 a service please.
Runs as rough as a badgers bits on startup and judging by the state of the air filter, hasn't been touched in a while...

Many thanks and good to be back!

I assume at that age it had electronic ignition?

Check the reluctor gap, bin the Rotor arm and cap and plugs - all generic for BB and SB (as is the oil filter). Lob a set of NGK's in; check the plug leads (probably time expired) and time to 34 Degrees full advance at 3000 rpm and then "juggle" so that you can get as much initial timing as possible where the car still starts Ok without ripping the starter motor teeth off - given the distributor constraints (these cars like lots of initial advance on modern fuels) and job's a good 'un...... :thumbright:

Many thanks guys...

Went to WASP in the end and Mark has sorted me out with some lovely shiny service bits....
Next stop is finding some cheap alloys and getting them to fit!
Then lowering slightly.
Then headers and a pipe, followed by a 4bbl manifold and carb.
Then a new Windscreen (mmm).
Then fit a stereo...
Then blah, blah, blah.....
