Vinyl Roof

Post by Coupe66 »

Hi All,

I am looking to get a Vinyl roof for a 68 Charger.
I want to replace it with it's original colour which is green.
Now was there only one shade of green for this year and could anyone recommend a company either here or in the states to get one from.

Hi Mike

There are a few different companies in the States that sell ready-made vinyls and at least one that will sell you the correct material if you wanted to get it made yourself.

Couple of years ago we bought one from Legendary Auto Interiors that wasn't very well made so eventually they replaced it, but it wasn't very well fitted by the guy we chose over here to fit it, so I got a replacement, this time from Year One, and had it fitted by someone else who did a great job.

So there's 2 names to be getting on with :)

All the online & paper catalogs will tell you what colours are available for what car and in what years, so you should be able to tell what colour you need from their catalogs.

Good luck :thumbright:

Thank's RobTwin

Iv'e emailed Year One and they only do black or white.

Classic Industries list a green top but they source theirs from Legendary Auto Interiors and I think they are the only ones who supply one 'ready made'. I dare say to have one made up will be an arm and a leg.

Hi Mike,

Surprised to hear Y.O. don't do that colour :?

Getting one made up was an option when we were looking but decided on the 'easy route' of getting a ready made one. Took a couple of goes but got there in the end!

The company I contacted about buying just the material was SMS Auto Fabrics

http://www.smsautofabrics.com/

We were only looking at black and they had the correct material so you'd have to check with them about green vinyl.

The person we'd have used to make the roof if we'd bought the material wold have been Joe Gillard (his company name escapes me at the mo) who works from his home in Great Bookham, Surrey. His mob is 07881 527770.

He does great work but can be a bit tricky getting hold of him, so persevere if you want to go that route ;)

Dante's may have the colour you are after Mike.

Black (67-74)
White (69-74)
Pearl White (67-69 only)
Antique Green (68-70)
Tan (1969 B-body)
Dark Green (1970-1973)

They were absolutely brilliant helping me out with my interior stuff and competitively pricd too.

Ive just ordered a headlining from this company for my New Yorker. It hasnt arrived yet so not sure about the quality etc but may be worth a look. I cant see the colours on the link above on my phone so not sure if they have green or not,
