Headers-how much clearance?
OK, TTI headers now trial fitted and actually fit - just!
I have very little clearance between starter motor and one of the down tubes, maybe 1/16" or so. What do you guys do?
Its a mini starter and I reckon I could squeeze in some very thin ali shield that I have.
Secondly, how far away from the headers do you think the trans coolant pipes should be?

I have headman headers which are inferior to the TTI, but I also have a mini starter.
You can buy allimunum heat shield or jackets and use cable ties to secure them.
You can even buy starter motor heat shield kits from the likes of demon tweaks.
I had to beat notches into my hedman headers to get the mini starter to fit, and I have not fitted a heat shield as there was not loads of clearance and I don't think the originally had one?
Personally I think you need more than an inch of clearance in both instances, but that is just one opinion.
No doubt it will depend on whether you have a monster stroker motor pushing out loads of power, or a standard engine, obviously a lot more heat is generated with the former.

Miles heat shields good to protect that starter and as said try and keep those pipes as far away as possible for the headers. The other issue you might have how close your plug leads are if there anything like mine I've had to bridge a gap .. Cause they get frigging hot.

Ok cheers, got me some heat shield material coming. Once I inspected closely I have at least 1/8" maybe more between starter and one of the header pipes where it bends. I've shifted the trans cooler wires and will add heat shield where needed. Next job is to wire an extension set of wires from a separate bus so as to be able to fit the starter with the wires connected in situ.
