Belve broke down!

This is a rare event! It was running great then just cut out.
It seems to be my Mallory IV HyFire ignition controller that's packed in as far as I can tell but I'll do more checks before I take the plunge and replace it.
I recently fitted a Mallory retard unit, anyone heard of these causing a problem or causing damage to an ignition?

Anyone have a good tested MSD or similar up for grabs?
I'm looking at the MSD Streetfire as about the only option I can afford- £150 from Amazon. MSD6AL are nearly double that!

Streetfire is a great little unit for a road car.

Built in Rev limiter but no ignition retard facility for Nitrous.

Sell a small child and get a Digital 6 - all you ever want in one box.

go to a website called telematica there based in greece and stock all msd, accel etc a lot cheaper than over here and no postage

Thanks for the info.
The Streetfire is still cheaper on Amazon and the 6AL is way out of my current budget
As it is I'll have to sell my 850dp to put towards it :?

Anyone know what voltage I should see at the dissy trigger?

Trigger coil should read 150 -900 ohms across it's 2 wires. It generates a small voltage to tell the ecu to fire the coil.

Ta Steve. When you say it generates a small voltage, do you mean the dissy does independently?
So if I pull out the dissy, stick a meter across the ecu wires and spin it, will I see a voltage?

I think it will only generate the small output when the ignition is on and dissy rotating,I presume there is a feed to the coil to energise it. The test for ohms is to check the continuity of the coil.
