Frame Rail Fabrication Question

Hi guys,

First post, but I'm a long-time lurker!

I'm replacing rotten rear framerails on my '68 Charger, and a wise man on here suggested i may want to consider getting the metal and having them made up at an engineering shop.

Can anyone weigh in with their experiences doing this, in terms of the differences between having your own rails fabricated and buying a pair?

Any help is appreciated, as a bit of a greenhorn I've got a lot of learning to do.

Welcome.

Paying anyone to fabricate something is VERY expensive - not only are you paying for their skill and materials, but it is SO time-consuming.

Matt on here had the rear cut out of a car in the US and he stitched it all together - a very talented man.

You can buy the frame rails, etc from AMD, Having a jig and the ability to put them in is another matter.

Hi pete, thanks for the rapid reply!

So it looks like I'll be grabbing a load of AMD parts then. I got a quote from a summit racing supplier earlier for a load of parts that i need, but to be honest I'd rather give the money to someone on here - I've gained so much info on here since i found the forum!

I hear that Mr. Fenton is the chap to go to for parts, he seems highly praised.

Ron Great for importing parts. All you have to do is order the parts from the supplier and get them sent to Ron's place in Florida and he sorts out the import charges and delivery to his place in Essex
