One for Ron Fenton maybe
I have brought three cars into the country over the years. Latest is due to land on Sunday.
Had an email from HMRC for a EORI number. Haven't had to do this before, from what I can work out ,it's for company's importing goods, not a personal import.
EORI is Economic Operaters Registration Information
Any thoughts. Have my shippers cocked up?

Re: Vehicle import
Ive noticed that everything is being tightened up. Im having a game registering my New Yorker now that its MOTd. They want the original bill of sale and title. I have explained that HMRC took these on import and wont return them but the photocopies I kept wont suffice. They want more proof that I actually imported the car (shipping docs etc) and they wont accept the proof that I have given that its a 1972 model. I decoded the VIN and fender tag for them and sent photos of everything but not enough. Matt is on the case for me thankfully. Seemed much easier when I was registering my old Fury

Re: Vehicle import
The EORI is for company's who import and export goods . It also applies now to those who import a vehicle as a personal import and wish to apply for the lower 5% BTI import duty.
Mine was sent in and rejected late on Friday, by an over zealous HMRC clerk. A new application was submitted on Monday and a EORI number was issued. This number is now mine if I want to import again.
Think this is a tightening up to combat those who import a container full of farm fresh ( scrap) 50s trucks and the like 2 or 3 times a year. Pay a $ 1000 dollars for them, then have them on eBay a week after clearance for £ 6995, " Great patina, free tax MOT excempt"..!
Will have a paper trail from original sale, US customs, shipping details ,HMRC, EORI, Nova, MOT for DVLA to make there mind up on registering it.
