Yeah a good small block will make those figures or close, under 90 is cool, over is pushing it a bit, I let mine warm right up before I push so the pressure drops as it is on the filters limit really!

The general train of thought is 10 psi per 1000 rpm, anymore is a waste of horsepower!

I was interested in correct pressure after installing my rebuilt 360. One of the US Mopar mag articles said they were happy with 30psi at idle and 60 at cruise speeds, they indicated that 90+ was a touch high.
Mine sits at 30psi@750rpm, jumps quickly to 40-50 at 1,000-1200rpm and sits at 60 at cruise speeds. All figures are for hot motor and (new) standard oil pump.

Another question then chaps...

On start up my engines oil pressure sits around the 60 mark.
After driving for approx. 25 - 40 mins the pressure drops down to about 35.
Now all this tallies with what has already been said...... but.....

After another 20 - 30 mins there is almost a complete loss of pressure ( literally drops below 10) but will pick up if revved slightly, but then drops again.

have changed oil and filter. oil level is ok. any ideas

Thanks in advance

When my 318 did that the bottom end had departed. I have to say that the audible knocking from the botom end gave me plenty of advance warning. Are there audible noises from the motor e.g. dep down knocking etc...?

I'd have a look at the pump before steaming in and pulling the engine to bits though

Thinking of what Jon said, is it worth checking the relief spring in the oil pump?
