Stock Appearance Class

Post by Captain Chaos »

Sorry if this is a bit of a Noob question.

I was scanning down the results for the Nats and came across a class that was won by a chap called Glyn in a green Charger running a 13.6 I think. Is this a Nats only class?

I was considering doing some more events but only as RWYB or maybe a Bracket race initially,I'm not ready for anything too serious just yet and I am not fast enough for Superstock.

It's a Mopar EuroNats class only to encourage "Grass Roots" racing.

VERY stringent rules.

Go into "UK Nostalgia Superstock", though there are some hard-hitting cars already in that class.

It has a 9.00 > 14.99 Bracket range.

I've competed in this a couple of times . Nats only as far as I know.

Basic rules from memory - I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong !

Car must look essentially stock, including under hood.

Not allowed:
Ally heads
Ally radiators
Electric fans
Exhaust headers

Rear tyres must be street legal and no wider than 275

Allowed:
Electric fuel pumps
Non-standard carb
Electronic ignition

Thanks

Hi,

As Pete has mentioned Nostalgia Super Stock could be a good class for you to try out. We have two different types of events which are "lifestyle" (i.e. non MSA) and MSA events. If you can run the 1/4 in under 15 seconds then your fast enough. Best place to start is the FB page as that has all the rules and safety requirements, it's nothing too onerous. You'll need to sign up and pay a membership fee. We've run all the lifestyle events this year - the last was the Nats - and have one MSA event left which is the National Finals in early October.

just to note, these a 8 second camaro in there
and oodles of 10 second cars. all in street guise

and theres mine which runs in the 11's,

and loads in between. but alloy heads are allowed, in the good ol USA their stock appearing class (FAST, factory appearing stock tyre) their rules are very tuff.

Thanks for the responses chaps most helpful.

As far as the stock appearance class goes I don’t think I’ll qualify as I have headers and a non-standard air cleaner but apart from that the car conforms to what Matt details.

UK nostalgia superstock looks like a great class to compete in but there seems to be quite a few competitors who are very fast, is the class bracket racing or heads up ?

Perhaps I should aim at the event in October that you mention to see how I get on.

Thanks again for all the responses and I will check out Facebook page too. Cheers Stewart.

It's a bracket racing class. Just note the event in October is an MSA event so you'll need your MSA membership and pass scruitneering. Either way it's a very friendly class and one growing so feel free to drop by the pits and say hi.

Thanks Adrian. Do not have MSA membership so will get on with that, even if I just visit in October it’ll help me get a feel for the class as you say. Thanks 👍

Just a bit of background info on the nostalgia super stock class for those of you that don't know. Although the class and the MMA are totally separate entities, there is a connection. It was originally set up by people that knew each other through the MMA, most of the commitee are MMA members and all are Mopar owners. So yes, joining the facebook group is the best option, but a lot of us are here as well.
