Lifters

Post by Duster1 »

Hi Guys,
Advice please. I’m just about to reinstall my original hydraulic lifters and wondered if there’s anything I need to do prior to install.
Do I just put them back ,do I need to remove the oil from them or do I strip down and clean each one.
Just want to be sure I get it right.
All the lifters and cam are in good condition with no signs of wear and tear.

Thanks
Andy

Are they still in EXACTLY the same order in which they came out?

If not, then bin.....

Phew!
Some people soak lifters in oil before assembling the engine.

I would install them, and then Pre-oil the engine and then set the pre-load on the lifters prior to start up.

Hi Pete,
I have a 318 engine, which has no valve adjustment at all, so does the preload still apply.

Nope, just whack them in and let the engine sort itself out....sorry - I am used to adjustable Rocker gear...
