non-power master cylinder on power brake system?

Post by Anonymous »

As my seal kit STILL hasn't turned up a very nice man (Mick) has offered me his spare MC to get my Sport Fury mobile again. its a non-power one on a Dart. The bolt pattern is the same as the one on my fury and it looks identical (both cyls on car) so will it work if we fit it?

cool, was worried that actuator rods would require different length or something daft.

Might have it on the road for the nats then.

Probably will fit and work, although quite possible that the piston size will be different which might affect the braking effort (not an issue with power) and pedal travel.

You can't do it the other way around though without adding the little rubber retainer for the manual pushrod.
You should check whether the manual one you get already has that fitted. If it has it MAY stop you getting your power pushrod in (I'm not familiar with the power pushrod, other than it's on a linkage). It's purpose is to hold the pushrod in place on manual brakes when you come off the brakes. Not needed on power since the intermediate pushrod is held in place anyway.
