Hi All,
Just a quick question that hopefully wont pose to many issues.....
Went to take my Polara for a run out today but found I had a fuel pipe leak above the fuel filter where the flex pipe meets the steel pipe from the carb. I managed to do a quick bodge job with another jubillee clip but would like to re do the fuel pump to carb lines in a better, more reliable way.
Can anyone suggest a good replacement system of fittings/pipes etc that's a bit more robust. I'm not a fan of braided lines as they would look daft on my car.
I have a mechanical fuel pump with a rubber pipe running to a fuel filter, then an anti drain back valve to metal pipe and finally to my Edelbrock 4 BBL 1406. I believe that my valve should be as near to the tank as possible so will take that out of the line that's carb side of the pump. That's a lot of short runs of rubber, jubilee clips etc and asking for issues I think.
Any suggestions / details of suppliers etc gratefully accepted
Cheers Steve

Hi Steve,
A couple of options.
If you do continue with rubber I have had very good results with Gates Barricade hose, which is Ethanol proof and available from Moss Europe just get the correct size.

or the whole hog is AN fittings from someone like Speedflow, which can be loosened/tightened often as not a crush fitting, but you do need quite a few adapters etc

I have the teflon hose and AN fittings on my Charger but it wasn't cheap
cheers

Re: Fuel line on my Polara
i used ethanol proof rubber based Fuel injection line looks to be plasticy followed by fibrous mesh followed by some filler followed by a nitrile rubber... has SAE and ISO British/euro standards stuff printed on it alongside Max pressure etc etc
obviously going to put up with the pressure of a mechanical pump
it has no cloth on the outside so you can see how well it is surviving
came off a roll at a motor factors
i use smooth hose clamps (ring with 2 ears and a bolt between them) like small versions of the type of clamp you would use for the intercooler connections on a modern. avoids the usual jubilee clip eating half the hose as it gets done up....

Re: Fuel line on my Polara
Thank you very much gents...
Going to use the great advice from both of you. I've ordered the fuel line as per ebay link, sure mine is 5/16 and found these clips
https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre ... 0845367023
Should be much better. Not sure what size clips that pipe needs so will wait until it arrives and measure it. I'm going to replace all of the soft rubber lines to avoid any more issues.
Thanks gents, appreciate all your help,
Cheers Steve
