Front Tyres on an "E" Body - How wide and tall??

Looking to fit new FRONT Tyres on the 'Cuda, 15" Rims (Naturally).

Must be Radials.

It's getting 275 x 60 x 15' on the Rear (28" Tall)

I don't usually put very wide tyres on a Mopar, but I am interested on other people's experience.

I am looking at 245 x 60 x 15's which give 26.5" Tall.

Do people feel this is too wide on the Front? Is there are chance of fouling?

PS: Manual steering!!

Many thanks.

Pete.

Hi Pete
I’ve run 235s on the front of E bodies without any issues running stock type wheels. The most important thing is to get the ride height and more importantly the steering geometry right if you’re running radials. I try to get as much positive caster as I can and just a touch of negative camber. Unfortunately with manual steering more positive caster equates to even heavier steering. You need just a touch of toe in. It’s always a bit of a compromise setting up the geometry on a Chrysler as all the adjustment is done on the top arms as you know. I try to get them as even as possible side to side which is not always easy. I set them up on a four wheel laser alignment ramp. Set up properly big block E bodies actually handle a lot better than many people would lead you to believe.

Brilliant, thanks Martin.

Looking at availability, I might knock it back to 215 x 70 x 15, so it gives a balanced look in terms of height with the rears.

Thanks again!

Pete

Yep got 235 60 BFG's on my Chally, sitting on 8" rims, slightly wider on the rears, stance is pretty much spot on,

No rubbing , even on neg camber roundabouts we seem to have down here!

215-70 would be my choice, tall and not too wide.

Hi Pete, I have a pair of Coopers 215/70/15. Very little use. Let me know if of any interest. I could measure the o/a height.

Ok Pete, I'll get see if I can get the date info this weekend. They're currently 'in the rafters' of the garage with cars underneath.
They're probably over 10 years old but only used for a couple and stored in the garage since.
If you're not comfortable with old tyres i'd understand. Maybe better suited to burnouts.
