My first Mopar for 21 years.
Hi everyone, just wanted to say hello, I have just bought a 69 Barracuda from Sticky (David) who had it up for sale on here. It’s my first Mopar since my Aussie Valiant Charger which I sold in 2004 (best not to say how much I sold it for, it’s too painful). Anyway hopefully when the weather is warmer I might get to see some of you around and about.
I have a question for anyone down in the South West ish area, my engineering and tinkering abilities have well defined limits, if anyone has the names of mechanics or garages in the vicinity that they would recommend that would be really helpful. Cheers Matt.

Re: My first Mopar for 21 years.
Thanks everyone, its like welcoming back an old friend, it even smells like the Charger! Boringly we called our Charger - "Charlie" and seeing as Sticky christened the Barracuda "Barry Green", that's what he's called. Kind of apt, Bazza is a common Aussie name and thats where he'll be heading with us.
I had a question which I think I might not get an answer to due to the sad loss of Tony Oskien who although obviously I did not hve the priviledge to talk to was clearly highly respected by everyone in the MMA. From his memorial post on here it sounds like Tony was a mine of knowledge and information, I would have enjoyed bombarding him with questions about this lovely car but sadly thats not something I will have the pleasure of.
I was hoping to try to track down any information on this car as I could. The fender tag is missing so there's probably not much that its possible to find out, but I did wonder if any records existed from Warwick Wright that may have made their way to a member of the MMA, I will contact the Chrysler (Stellantis) archives but I think their files only exist until 1967. Thanks again for the welcome. Cheers Matt

The late Tony O probably knew more than anyone else about the Warwick Wright cars. He had a register and library of original documentation he had compiled for a book he was planning to write.

Re: My first Mopar for 21 years.
Welcome Matt and that is a great car. It was on display on our stand at the NEC a few years back and certainly got some attention. Hope you enjoy her as much as possible. Miles and Simon live SW (Cornwall) and my have some good contacts for you.
Its well worth getting stuck in to some projects yourself. There is a wealth of very, very knowledgeable people on here, many of whom have kindly helped me over the years to keep my car on the road. It just gives you the confidence to have a go at things knowing that they have all been done before and there will probably be a thread on it somewhere in the search facility.
Enjoy your lovely car Matt and maybe post up some pics of your adventures etc please.
Cheers Steve

You might like to read these:

Don't believe the "one-of-one" claim though, there's at least one other genuine UK Warwick Wright convertible out there:

these guys might have something

same company, you can imagine the mopar stuff just in an unsorted pile at the back of the office
as humber singer et all shuffled out of existence it was the Mopar stuff that was imported to spice up the line up....a motor show stand full of simca 1800s and hillman hunters would have been a bit bland.

Re: My first Mopar for 21 years.
Welcome to the board.
Dave used to bring that to Shakey all the time, before it was closed down. Not seen it for a while, good to see it will be back out.
The history of the RHD Warwick Wright cars is all sorts of mystery, largely due to the fact that no good records were kept. Tony O was the man with all the knowledge, but most else of what you will hear is heresay or speculation. I’ve lost count of the amount of different production figures that have been touted about.
I had heard a whisper that Tony’s son may carry on the work towards the book, but that may be nothing more than speculation either.
If you turn up anything of interest, it would be good to hear about, albeit mine has gone to a new home now. Still got a huge soft spot for these. Fantastically useable on UK roads, toll booth’s, drive thru’s etc, better brakes and suspension package etc, same great styling as LHD, what’s not to like?

24 hours in a day, 24 beers in a case. Coincidence? I think not…

Very nice indeed. Congratulations.
Did it come with a build sheet in the history documents?

Re: My first Mopar for 21 years.
Thanks everyone for those suggestions, yes I think there will be a lot of jobs that I should try to tackle with the help of all the experience on this forum, I want to avoid getting in to the position of not being able to use the car because I’m knee deep into a big job. So I suppose I need to be sensible and focus on a light recommission for Spring. Unfortunately the build sheet etc aren’t with the car, the only documents I have are a big bundle of MOTs and the original service book with a couple of stamps from when it was the Demonstrator car for Warwick Wright. David kept the car MOT’d up to next years expiry. He was such a fun guy to talk to, really into his racing and fire marshalling. It’s nice to have bought the car from someone who has enjoyed it as much as he has.
