Bumper infill colour

Post by Anonymous »

mine looks like it never had any paint on, kind of a dull greyish/silver colour front and rear.

If I was to paint them, what should I use?

Can anyone confirm what it should look like?

My back one is black and the front one is a goldy colour will take some pictures tomorrow if i can. Just a word of warning DONT take the plastic off the metal fixing strip if you paint it as for some reason the plastic srinks :? as I found out to my cost and you cant find replacements

I did wonder about how the plastic would be affected by painting, especially now it`s aged and weathered.
I wonder if there`s any special paints for plastics?

I have noted that these infills are rare to find now.

Try a little green scourer dipped in gunk for the "black" rubber in-fill. Gently work away and the rubber goes back to plack and becomes slightly more supple.

before I try that I think I need to get the infill off the car and have a look at the backside to see what the unexposed bit looks like.

Attacking the surface with Gunk worries me and I don`t want to ruin the plastic. I could always try the Gunk on the backside where it won`t be seen.

Would it not be better to just give it a good clean with Autosol vinyl and rubber cleaner? Or maybe that black plastic polish stuff you uses on modern bumbers?
