Could I get away with leaving my as yet unregistered car outside my house whilst I register it ????
My workshop availability has possibly run out so need to move her out, but she's done now anyway so I can drive home!!! hurrrahhh!!

Short answer - I don't know exactly. Once you have the MOT (and American docs) you go to the DVLA office, officially the car has to be inspected and there's some paperwork and a fee. I think they can give you a tax disc there and then though, if it all checks out (I'm sure someone else will chime in with some advice thats actually helpful, lol!).

If you have all of the correct documents and if they are happy with your proof of the actual age of the car then they will issue you a year related registration there and then. All you have to do then is get your plates made up.
They can be a bit difficult if they decide you are trying to pull a fast one on the age in order to get free road tax. If they are ask to see their supervisor and give him a lecture.
