Rocker panel

Post by Anonymous »

Hi guys, on my maiden voyage, after all the body work was finished on the duster, I managed to land her in a ditch (no i wasn't driving like a prat, wish i was then I could blame myself).

anyway I need a new rocker panel I've found some at yearone but if anyone can recommend anything cheaper or hopefully more local as the MOT is due very soon please let me know.

Just a bit gutted yes, Was on the way to Rockingham, on Sunday with my local club www.mkb.cc (shameless plug) to parade our cars round the track. along with the AVO & RebelV8...etc.

Got to Northampton shire, couldn't tell you the name of the road but I came off the road when turning left at a largish round-a-bout next to a big BP garage :? . I later found out that 3 other cars in the same convey stepped out, one of them severely and the Police officer that came to the scene has personally lost two cars to the ditch and gets about 1 a day down there

Was a little damp that day but not enough to cause this so i suspect Diesel on the road from the trucks filling up at the garage...

Ouch, so thats how you chipped the paintwork I was wondering, its crappy when stuff like that happens :(

If you ever gut stuck or anything like that give me a shout, the Rams a great little tower. I havn't got my own trailer yet but seriously considering it. Got some friends keeping their eyes peeled for burned out caravans so I can knock one up on the cheap :)

My 68 fell off the trailer & dented the sill just like yours, we cut a large rectangle out above the sill (under where the sill plate goes) & pushed the dent out using lumps of wood + hammer. Once dent was out welded the bit we cut out back in, didnt even use any filler underneath.

One of my mates did actually think of that 8-) It will depend on how rotted the sill is.

blimey, that's bad luck...

That part of the body is really strong, you'll need to get some serious grunt behind that to straighten it out, unless it's rotten of course. As Pete said, a decent body man could get that out probably for less than the cost of the Year One panel and shipping.

Mine was damaged in the same place...but a lot worse, so it can be done...I replaced the badly damaged section with flat steel plate, which formed to match and it's as good as new. :)
The pump don’t work coz the vandals took the handles.
