Poly Bushes

Post by Anonymous »

Hi all,

In the quest for answers to the ever more vague suspension in the Victor I rang Super Flex for advice and/or parts.... guess what? the very nice man, Chris Witor, is an MMA member and looking for a '70 Charger!

Also he is looking at doing poly bushes for Mopars, so does anyone have information or experience that might help him in developing the best bushes for us without us having to ship them?

It's like being a Free Mason here, first I do surprizingly well at college on my machining after finding out that my tutor was a member (':- and now this.

I have to say I was well impressed with the Superflex bushes I had on the back of the V8 Victor. Ride was still good, but axle stayed put! :)

That was what I was going to ask you Alistair.

I had a long discussion about this with Super Flex, and they believe that HC Viva bushes are the same (same suspension apparently). I have bought them under the understanding that if they do not fit I can return them for a full refund. That way I guess we will know for sure.

What are your thoughts on this?

(I apologise to everyone else for having a non mopar question). :brushteeth:

HC Viva uses 2 "big" bushes on the lower arm and one "big" and one "small" on the upper arm. The FD uses "big" ones on all 4 points each side. So I just ordered and fitted 8 off Viva HC "big" bushes.

They fit fine.

However, according to Vauxhall Heritage later FDs use different upper bushes. And my mate Martin says they won't all fit up. However, he hasnt even tried yet!

IIRC from the parts book the "new" FD bushes also replace the earlier ones, so if a car with all HC Viva type bushes went into a Vauxhall dealer back in the day for new bushes it would have got the second type. Unless they changed the arm out as well the bushes number be the same size then! I reckon they upgraded the compound or something. But thats just my guess.

Remember your estate is one of the last FDs, and the car I had the V8 in was one of the first, so there were production differences between them.

If he'll do them on S.O.R. its a winner.

Let me know how you get on because Martin would be interested. As would I as I still have a Ventora and it needed rear bushes last time it was on the road.
