Source for white grease (in a tin) or good alternative?

I could do with some white grease for various uses, but mainly for my window regulators. I believe they use it there since it is very water resistant???

Anyway, I have an aerosol of it, which is good for some parts but it gets everywhere and seems very thin, even after time for the solvents to evaporate. So, I thought I could get a tin of the stuff. Can't find it anywhere

. Only seems to be in aerosols (why?)
Does anyone have a source for this? (preferably in Herts or Essex so postage doesn't double the cost but whatever you know about).

Or....is there a good alternative? I use silicone grease here and there and I think that would be a good, possibly superior, alternative? Although that only seems to come in tubes (is this the same as dielectric greas BTW, I have both and they seem pretty similar)

I can get hold of good quality silicone grease from work. We use it as it has good unti-wash properties and stays in place with high temps. We use it as it is superior, as you say. If you like next time Im off-shore I can scoop 500mls out into a pot or something and post it down to you if you like?

Water pump grease from a boat yard,it's used on canal boat drive shafts. I think the white grease is zinc oxide based? I've got some but it's not that clean as the tin is about 50 years old

we use white grease at work on some of the cnc machinary (waranty void if we use anything else) and it has good heat and moisture resistant propertys, only problem is the £480 a tin

. i will do some inestigating to see if a cheaper, more readily available grease is available. on anything that will come into contact with water (window regylators etc) i use the grease that is recomended for revolving centres on cnc lathes its not cheap cheap but its reasonable and dosnt wash off easily.i can bring a tube to the nats if you want to try it.

Thanks Mark - I actually found that grease on that website! didn't know it was you!!
However, I did end up getting some from a motorcylce place in the end (also mail order). Since I only needed one thing the shipping worked out cheaper (though the grease cost more!).
