Re: Dipstick length for 440

Thanks guys.
Now for the inevitable question - what is the correct amount?
There seems to be a difference of opinion on the net - 6quarts (including filter) seems to be for standard sump. Presumably that's US quarts which is different to GB of course!
Does this sound correct to you all?
Cheers

Dipstick length for 440

Hi
Without being personal, can anyone tell me the length of their dipstick please?
I've bought a new one for my 440 but compared to my present one, the tube is the same length but the actual stick is about 1.5 inches longer. Obviously if I use the new one then the engine will be running with less ...

Thanks for your thoughts guys.

Anton :- Do you mean a "weakfish" coil spring over the pins to spread the pads apart?

challenger :- I've read this post but it didn't seem to help here.

Mr Norm :- Useful diagram. I'll look into seeing if the anti-rattle spring does anything as in the pic. The ...

Disc pad rattle !!

My Challenger front disc pads have developed an annoying and very audible rattle.
They have a “spring clip” attached to each calliper at the moment, which I presume is an anti-rattle device, but they’re not serving any purpose at all at the moment !! (see photo)
Does anybody know how to eliminate ...

Thanks for that Barry.
I also had some pics of it at the Quay in 2008. Bought it the next year but didn't realise for quite a while it was the same car!! I wasn't overkeen on the stance before - a bit 70's? Reckon it looks better now.

Well spotted Bruvmopar. My daughter insisted I drive her to her wedding in it. Trouble was I ended up spending half the evening talking to people about it!
Do you get to any local shows- Mudeford Meet, Cars on Prom etc?

Yep - must be the very same. Pity the pics are missing.
However I have seen pics of before the rebuild. After I contacted John Challis a couple of years ago, he called in and showed me an album-full when he was down this way. He couldn't help with much of the previous ...

Thanks for the positive comments guys.

The six pack was causing problems when I got it - beyond my ancient knowledge of tampering with SU’s and Strombergs! My local experts decided they were in need of a rebuild so the cheaper and easier option was the 750 four barrel. I must say it really ...

'72 Challenger

Hi guys
Thought I’d try posting some pics for you lot to peruse. This is my ’72, now into my fourth year of ownership. It was imported in 1980 on a V reg, originally a yellow 340 Rallye, then red. Restored 2003-06 with a 440 six pack. It’s much as it was when I bought it but have made some changes ...

Sorted. The column was in contact with the header at times and engine noise transmitted through the column. With a bit of heat the header pipe was eased away and bingo! - noise gone.

Thanks John
Steering is fairly easy to turn when parked and no noise then.
I'll check a few of your comments tomorrow on oil and grease.
The headers run extremely close to the column - I'm wondering if this is touching at times although if it was only when turning I could understand the noise but to ...

Thanks for the reply. It seems a logical answer.
I'm not too familiar with the inside of a steering box.
How could a manual box make this sound just by applying pressure to the steering wheel?
