I did a few Furd marine motor conversions, headers and water pump and are the main things, it will go on the road no problem, may need a cam change as well..

Our old BBC drag motor was an ex marine motor (had it's green beret and everything 8-[ ).

I guess putting it on the street might be more involved than a 1/4 mile special though.

Gavin you have had a habbit lately of saying exactly what I was about to say! Three times today already I think?

Yeah I remember reading several Hot Rod tech question/answer things in the early 70s about what changes were needed to make an engine run backwards for boat applications. it was just a cam change as far as I can remember but they must have had to run the starter backwards too etc.

I don't think this has been done for years but if this was built way back when it might be an example.

Well I'll take that as a compliment! Actually more often than not I find it the other way around, I'm just about to say something and someone else says it!!
Yeah, I was mulling over what would need changing, like you say the cam, and maybe other ancilliaries like the oil pump, distributor etc...

2-strokes are much more fun- jus get the timing far enough out, get an unlucky backfire when ya kick it and yer off backwards!!!
No-one will believe you...
