hello ---as its all off car want to have checked over [overhauled] make sure every thing is happening as should be ,and theres no were ---

Not too sure on the turn round though as I have a 9 1/4 complete out of a ram in a million pieces at the moment

I can do it too. But it is a lot easier to see/hear/feel if everything is alright when it is in a running car.
Be prepared for a big bill if you want all new bearings and or a new ring and pinion.
My advice to you would be to run it on the car and see if it has issues before diving into the deep end.
It might help if you put your location in your profile.

So just out of interest Dave, what sort of average price can you expect for getting an 8 3/4 suregrip overhauled. What is 'big bills'?

Including labor. Yes. About £500.
That would be all seals, gasket, shims, ring bolts, the 4 bearings etc and a new R&P.

That seems quite reasonable for a peace of mind type exercise.
