OK here is the full story.

There had been rear engined cars over the 60s but non got anywhere. the slingshot was King.

The very first rear engined Top fueler to win a major event was Dwayne Ong's "Pawnbroker" at the end of 1969. The car also won the AHRA Summer Nationals in 1970.

6 months later Don Garlits brought his version out at the Jan '71 Lions Drag Strip Show. This was after he lost half his foot during 1970.

We just finished work on the bonnet, and right handsome it looks !
Packed the trailer and we're off to Lebanon at 7AM, the weather's supposed to be glorious and they sell the greasy chips on the planet there and even have vinegar, most unusual for the USA :D

Well we had a pleasent day up there, got to meet Cliff Gomer the boss man of Mopar Action and Tom who runs Moparts plus a load of old friends I hadn't seen in years- the car decided to have a fit and refused to run once it got to 170 F, but that's drag racing for you..

well me and Dale got to drive around the pits to warm it up prior to a blast down the track and it then decided it would run above 170F , dunno if it's a sensor, but without the FAST software and the laptop we were up a creek in a sinking canoe :P
Finally put it back in the trailer after a very frustrating day at 5PM, shame after all the work we put in to get it there.
Still that's cars for you...
The bonnet looks nice though :D
