How come Dave?
I would have thought that losing a pile of weight off the front end and replacing the torsion bars witha coilover setup would be massively beneficial?

nic
just getting everything powder coated red & rebushed
got the bush kit from here cheap as chips
http://www.p-s-t.com/ & the rest of the stuff from year one & summit
bare metaled the underside, engine bay & boot (almost done)
hardest job ive done for a while
Am going to spray it with the zinc anti rust stuff from www.frost.co.uk (cheers nigel for that info)
then spray it with smothright or the new almost smooth-fine stonchip

not sure wheather to paint engine bay black again or I'm well tempted to paint it red ? (underneath & boot will be black) what does anyone think ?

And what is taking all the weight of the front of the car? The inner wing. Not strong enough. Some have collapsed in the US.

Would the Billet adapters the frame comes with allowing the shocks to mount in the original locations not be strong enough? Or would the load be shared with the torsion bar in the stock setup?

Oh yeah - and Andy - Don't take Mick Jagger's advice! Paint it Red! My inner fenders/radiator yoke/firewall are all matt black, and I hate it. It should be Red, like the rest of the car.......

As for the bare-metalling job.. :working:
Much respect! I stripped my Land Rover chassis and it was the muckiest and toughest job I have ever done - including building work.
I used smoothrite - It was top stuff - the new stuff with stonechip sounds like its the dogs bits and pieces.

The frame does. Same as a K-frame.

All the weight is taken up by the top shock mount. Which is bolted to the inner fender.
So if you use one I hope those spot welds are good and they didn't miss any out like they normally do.

If you are going that far, surely you'll already have a cage to mount the shock mounts off? :thumbright:

That would be fair enough Kev. I would be happy with that.

But most of them are sold to people fitting them to otherwise completely stock cars.

Actually. Front halving the car would probably be cheaper.
