Yea the .590 is a very old design but still produces good power, needs a lot of static compression to perform, probably work even better with 12.5-1. I was playing about with some figures a couple of weeks ago and you could see how the .590 and the .509 really "bleed off" the static compression.

yes blue rik berrys old 440 had 12-5-1 and a 590 ran in the 11s yrs ago in a stock bodied rrunner also sound awesome

If your static is, say 12:1, but the dynamic is bled down to say 9:1 by a big overlap on the cam you'll get away with regular pump gas....

There is a guy on moparts, with a low deck 451, full port Eddy RPM'S, .590 mopar cam, tunnel ram, Dart Sport street car, runs 9.80 on drag radials, nothing old school about those times.

The duration figure will determine the dynamic compression , tighter LSAs (more overlap) will not neccesarily bleed down any more compression.
