Hand Grenade

Only seen it happen once in 30 years of being around drag racing. None of the local guys have ever used anything else but the stock drum in all those years, ignorance is bliss and all that. I have quite a few steel drums to fit for next season, we are all upping the power and I feel it's time to do it.

I was always nervous of the fact my 727 would let go, even with trans shield & flex plate shield. In fact I used to have my mates old lenco blanket covering the trans. Every time I used to hear noises some real, some in my head. Then I said to myself, enough is enough & went to a JW Glide
Did think of staying with a 727, but the price is too high, around $6,000 for a full on 727.... maybe cheaper in UK, but never enquired. Which is similar money for a 2nd hand lenco & bell housing, but then you got another $2,000 for a clutch. So Glide made more sense to me, plus my car is relatively light, so not such an issue for me.

and the thing is, people think its about the hp off the car its not, its about luck, and a lot the driver i reckon a seasoned racer has a lesser chance off a blowup than some clown bouncin and burnin out there 17 sec street car

it was the sudden jet off trans fluid julian and open hot headers, blow ups are very remote but can happen and yes the tunnel in a jensen is fibreglass
