Just wondering

Post by AllKiller »

What with all these strokers being built from 496 to 540 and all in between...amongst the spec there has been no metion that i can see of fuel or exhaust system upgrades

Im going to !/2 " return system to keep up with the motor and no dead heading, that increases fuel heating, and pump falure lomg term.
also allows fuel pressure setting without the motor running

And exhaust system is 2 1/8 TTI headers into a 3" system with Flowmasters to expell the nasties
any similar thoughts , contributions, plans ;)

Fuel and exhaust system already in place. Barry grant hot rod pump and reg, -8 feed, -10 return. 2" tti's, 3" system with Walker dynaflow mufflers to keep it quiet.

Good point Steve.

I think not dead-heading is a good practice and will change both cars to operate with a return.

Not sure what 2 x 750 DPs will draw, but I bet the Holley blue will not keep up.

TTI's for Julies 4000/500 stroker - 2 inch primaries cos I have them.

Hemi is also getting 2" primaries, with a "wait and see" exhaust system.

make sure thyat return is sety up correctly i had a system like that it lost pressure flat out at the big end, tom much returning to the tank likes to find its easiest path which is the return

Pete,
Dead heading is when the fuel stops at the carb and has nowhere else to go......so if your not flat out the fuel flow is not being used, the pump is working hard against itself, trying to push fuel up a line that is already full....then the pump gets hot and heats the fuel hurting performance and eventually killing the pump

You can get Return regulators and have a return to the tank this will allow the pump to run consistently and not heat the fuel as it is not trying to fill an already full line....as it is being returned to the tank
Holley even do a return reg that looks exactley the same as the conventional one most of us use
the return must be after or incorporated in the Regulator or as Duncan said it will take the easiest route back to the tank...and you will have no pressure

Regulators with hi and low pressure bypass is what i bought.....sorted :thumbright:

Gonna try & build the stroker boardering on 600 hp , cos any more than that i'll have to upgrade from 3/8 to half inch , can't be arsed to do any more to it.

Probably not the pump at WOT...i'd go for a pump that flows more than the blue top say their black top billet, or the Mallory CP pumps are very good,
or aeromotive
