well there's a big bad 572 with a couple of PT88's hanging off it heading for Southampton that's for sure...
Trev I need some R5 bits for the NASCAR lump, gearbox adapter, and a motor plate- not for a Mopar this time though
Donnie's got the Procharger lump heading his way also, and someone should jump on that pronto- loads of HP without all the hassle of KB hemis

Hassle with KB Hemis, not the ones I know of

apart from waiting 10 minutes to warm the thing up 'cos of the zero lash cam, the water leaks, oil leaks trying to get the valve covers on and off to adjust the valves then keeping the seals in the plug tubes- er I'll stick with my wimpy smallblocks if you please

Ritter's old partner from the Comp Eliminator record days now runs the CNC shop at Arrington's and there is so much of that Ex NASCAR stuff around now it would be rude not to reuse it I say.
Add a couple of turbos and fuel injection and BOOM as farmer Ted would say.
Still 700+ HP normally aspirated on pump gas from a 358 ci smallblock ain't too shabby either
In Nextel cup trim one of those engines makes as much power as my old 557 hemi made with with a monster 1150 Dominator on top. Except the smallblock uses a weenie little Holley and a resticthor plate with holes about the size of a 50 p piece in it and runs ridiculousy lean to keep the MPG figures up and has to do it for lap after lap up and down through the powerband everytime it get's near a corner. Impressive stuff indeed..

Mark if you can buy a REAL Prostock hemi for $40 grand I'd get a container load and sell them to the NHRA boys - they'd snap them up.
These ones on this site are used, old spec, they get rings and bearings and then they sell them off. I got mine all in bits, brand new crank, a special experimental set of rods with bigger journals, most of these NEXTEL Cup jobbies use 1.88" Honda style bearings, then I've got custom turbo pistons, custiom Cometic head gaskets.
The real trick was getting some honing plates and the cam ground, Comp wanted $2300 to whittle one out of a billet, no-one has an unground lobe blank witih wide enough separatieon for my needs.
But as usual we came up with a cunning plan
And the beauty of all these engines is most of the ancillaries are down the left side of the motor, dry sump pump etc which leaves loads of room down the right hand side for a steering column, just where it should be- and oh boy are the hillbilly's and Mopar purists going to hate this new car...

I gathered for $40k it wasnt an up to date pro stock, but $16k/$18k for a screamin small block is not bad at all, maybe its the dollar rate that makes em seem reasonable. Going back to your earlier Hemi comments, I personally had my valve covers off a couple of times during my dyno sessions & re installed & never had an issue with oil leaks. It wasnt though I was taking extra extra care, as I wasn't aware of the issue till you mentioned it.
Time required to warm up the motor, was a price I was prepared to pay. I will let you know about the water leaks as and when I find em.

those big shiny rocker covers certainly make a statement in the engine bay that's for sure, on Donnie's 572 the cam guys decided to fit a zero lash cam and I mean ZERO at cold, so you have to sit around and wait until the water temp gets to about 170F before you go anywhere, not really practical for street use I'd say, but WTF do I know?

Brrrr is cold here today 5F (-14C I think) - now some fool and that would be me -has to go and spread 150lbs of salt on the driveway so I can get a crane truck up here to move the concrete steps, tum tee tum.
Still I'm finally getting around to insulating the barn and fitting a proper heating system in there, should be nice and toasy in there soon
just got in from the cold, one 500lb frozen concrete step levered off the
top of the pallet and the other four returned to the man, it's always a laugh working outside in these temperatures...
