Power Steering Q

Post by Anonymous »

On the gayvan again
At low revs the steering is heavy, feels like a manual box, but is fine at speed.

Fluid level is fine, and belt is nice and tight.

What gives?

Efficiency of PS pump is relative to rotations on pulley wheel versus crank speed.

Do we assume this issue has always been there, or is it a new problem????

Assuming it is the right pump for the van you MIGHT find you need the pump to turn quicker at low revs so you need either a bigger crank pulley or a smaller PS pump pulley.

The main thing is, is this a new problem???
