I run 4.30 gears. With the overdive on it is like having 3.30 gears.

I use it like a 4th gear most of the time. Think of it as top gear with third and second as overtaking gears.

With my low gears and little 26 inch diameter tyres I run out of revs at the top of 3rd and hit 3rd over a little before the line.

I always think it is better to use all the gears you have.

I agree dave, you wanting to be going over the line at almost max rpm in top gear & im sure with 4.10 or 4.56 I could beat my 11.6 but I'm quite happy with the gears for normal road use

I think I have the best compromise going on. The 4.30s give me the launch I want for the track and the OD the top speed I want (140) on the German Autobahn. ;)

Gear vendors started acting up again yesterday , solinoid would'nt activate to select overdrive , so @ 70 mph was pulling 4000rpm , was thinking control box might of packed up again & having to wire it manually , last time i did this i forgot to turn the solinoid off while reversing & all i could hear was a nasty grating noise comin out the vendors. :help:

Stuck the Pit on the ramps & noticed the speedo cable was burnt through & resting on the header :banghead: :banghead: , anyhow removed speedo cable from dash to gear vendor trick box , took the Pit for a run & all is now fine , had enough , PITA these motors.

Got another 3 points on me license , that cables givin me nothin but grief.

That is the reason I put so much effort into the exhaust to make sure it would clear the speedo cable. Plus I wrapped the cable in heat shield tape. :thumbright:

Having it working makes three points a lot more likely in my experience.

Thats a bummer Brutus on all counts, when this unit is installed does it affect the location of the trans mount, i know the prop has to be shortened, i can`t remember if the mount is forward of the replaced section

Mount stays in same place , but there is a hell of a chunk not supported , probably around 4 ft of tail shaft & overdrive unit hangin in mid air  , spose to be good for 1200 HP , maybe GV offer another means of support for the vendor unit that sustains 2000 hp.
