Gorgeous pics
Seeing the old with the new i realise whats missing from the new- It needs chrome bumpers. Even just painted would help, it just looks bulky compared to that slender front on the original.
Still very envious tho :P

Its nice looking car - bigger and bulkier than i though it was going to be - and an amazing drive !- 0-60 in Five - , smooth and comfortable - really great! It really brings it home how rough ready the old ones are to drive - I jumped straight out of the new on and into my 70 for the 2 hour journey home - knackered now!

The peeps from Chrysler and Motor Trend Mag were real nice guys too!- and it was nice to see a few fellow MMA members there too- I expect they will be along soon with their take on the day!

That's a horrible pic of me in the driving seat. I should look happier than that in my first drive of an 08 SRT Challenger.

Great weather for a change but a bit windy, nice blokes, and real good of them to let us take their new Chally's out for a run. And they let us stand on the throttle pedal too! Fantastic cars. Great fun.

We are trying to get them to offer the Challenger 'Euro' spec. I also asked if possible to get them to the Nats at Santa Pod in a couple of weeks, - maybe, - they are going to look into the schedule for the cars before they head back to the States.

Fingers crossed guys.

crying out for chrome door handles, and the door mirrors would look better in black imo, might be a bit big to have them in chrome.

Great stuff and fingers crossed Jim. Looks bloody big too! I thought they might have found a more 'exotic' location for the photos though? Still prefer the old one though, has a lot more character....same way a lot of us still love the old WWII aircraft compared to the modern equivilants..beauty, grace and charm.

Oh dear  Look at the size of the arse on that. Parking it up against the old one's just show's how wrong they got the styling, It's a big bloater.
I did think about treating myself to one when they first said they were building them, my money is safe now

It's as I thought,more like a fat 'cuda than a Challenger. :(
I presume it'll drive just like the srt8 Charger, because that is what it is,less two doors and about 4" off the wheelbase.

Defiantly, but not without the other chrome (i.e. trim, bumpers, mirrors etc)

Challengers at the EuroNats

Post by TonyO »

YEAH, despite Jim giving me a bum steer on the hotel, time, location etc I did get to drive a 08 pre production model 6.1 Hemi Challenger. It was later on in the day, ie early evening. nearly lost it on the round a bout where the hotel is located but got it humming down the motorway. Nice folks, even better when I convinced them about my intensions, they warmed to the ACW " muscle car files" etc.
As for the Challenger ...not convinced....thought build quality awfull, car is just too fat, doors too big, afterthoughts, rear spoiler, graphics, cheapo windscreen wipers, CUP HOLDERS in the bloody console, pass me my latte dear!!!Nice to see a genuine 180MPH Speedo, nice fuel cap, cool wheels, the car needs FLOWMASTERS, sounds like a Volvo at the mo. Hate the colour coded naff door handles. Room for improvement, for sure.Would not buy one just yet, they will get better. Missed the pentastar logo on the bottom of the right fender. The car did NOT leap out at me, the retro Mustang did!
With petrol milage at around 18 to the gallon, this could be a White elephant motor, I hope not, I want it to succeed, desperatly. Jury Out! When Top Gear get hold of one o these, they will rip it to shreads.
