I would advise practising on an old ring, in order to get the feel for material removal. Once I got into the habit, it was quick & accurate.
Bit like spiro locs, pain in the arse at first, but once you get into a rythem not too bad, fingers ache for a while though

Tapered piston installer looks a helpfull tool, much better than my expandle spring steel type I have.Blue wrote:I bought a pair of rod bolt extensions and a bore specific tapered piston installer. As for the rod bolt extensions, I just use festo plastic tubing, nice snug fit & stops bolts from causing any scratching, nicks, etc. cheap solution & worked fine for me
