flex plate bolts

Hi, my flex plate to converter bolts keep coming loose does anyone have any ideas why this keeps happening?

They do.

Loctite and LOTS of force when tightening, 2 spanners end on end...and check regularly....

Thought the original problem was due to the feet being different heights.

That appeared to be the problem, so thought it was sorted.
But it's still happening, even tried permanent loctite.

My guess would then be that there was a vibration/balance issue either with the convertor or the motor.....have you got the BIG hemi 'vertor bolts or the soppy stock ones?

They are an odd size, I think they are3/8 unf, sussex autos made it and they couldn't give me any bolts to go with it!

Thinking it may be an idea to throw the Bananarama! in the bin and start again, where would be a good place to get a new one?

You should be using 7/16 pink bolts in a converter..................

I agree. I INSISTED that Sussex Autos put in feet to take the 7/16" bolts.
You can then use the ARP 12 pointed bolts for better purchase when tightening. I have ground a ring spanner flat to increase the engagement with the bolt.

This could be because British and American threads are slightly different. They do work together but that are not actually an exact match.

If you are bolting something with high stress you need to make sure both hole and bolt originate from the same side of the Atlantic.

ARP bolts Pete , must be real close if not scraping the block , if you grind em down then how would you get a purchase? , they already have a washer type seating which makes it worse.

Do you countersink the flexplate?

They are purpose made ARP flex plate bolts - will also double on the flex plate to crank fixing as well

Thought you were talkin standard ARP bolts.

What spanner size are they? , @ least with the stock 7/16 bolt you can get a real good purchase/leaverage with a 3/4 spanner.

To my knowledge 7/16" is not stock apart from on the Hemi; there are at least 3 bolt sizes that I am aware of...

I think I will just bin it and make a note to myself not to go anywhere near sussex autos again
