can anyone tell me wot way to turn the steering adjuster to stiffen up the steering as its well loose, ta

Is this a power unit or manual?
What exactly is the problem. Is it play in the steering wheel?
Are you adjusting the box in the vehicle or on the bench?
Do you have a factory workshop manual?
What year and model car is this?

Reaction springs. That is what I was trying to remember.
They are what give the "feel" to the steering box. Although I wouldn't call it feel. They just make it stiffer to turn. You still don't get much feedback from the road. Not like with a manual box.
