Hi Guys (and Girls)
Had a great time at Brooklands on Sunday.
But driving home, my fuel and temp guage went right off the scale - max - and stayed there. Is there a simple way to check whats causing this, am I right in assuming it might simply be a dodgy earth or something.
Where would the first place to check be?
Thanks
Martin

It is unlikely that both "feeds" are earthing - try disconnecting them from the sensors and see if the gauges drop to zero.
Are all the other gauges playing up as well?
It could be the Ballast resistor under the dasboard.

Sounds like the volt reg has stuck as Pete says, if it has you need to solve the problem fast as the guages will not be able to handle the voltage.
If the oil guage was still reading right that is almost definalty the problem.

Hi
it doesn't have the oil gauge as such, just a warning light - which is off.
Anyone know where I can get a ballast resistor quickly, as this is now my daily car
Thanks

I've ordered a new one from WASP - should have it by the weekend.

If you asked for a ballast resistor you will get the one for the ignition.

Hi
when I get the voltage regulator, are there any tips for fitting it? You know, something obvious, that I might forget to do.
Also, do I need to take the dash out?
Cheers

Ok guys, here's the latest....
Fitted the ballast resistor, voltage reg (but even though I asked for a dash one it seems like an ignition one was sent). So I guess I still need one...
Anyway here's piccies of what I have fitted, and piccies of what the gauges look like with ign on.
Now, when I was driving home from Brookie the fuel and temp were well past the max, but now only the fuel gauge does this.
Any advice appreciated...

Yes that's the fella! I think you can get a transisterized version now which is much more reliable, Year One do them I think.

Yeah, the silver one ... hope your fuel guage hasn't got roasted!
