If it is a sublime WSS I probably know it very well.

It looks like my mate Trevor Young's old car. It is a Western Sport Special although I know the existing owner damaged the ally panel that mounts above the rear lights. Looks like it has been painted black to hide the damage.
Trevor repaired the bodywork and had it resprayed. A few bits of my car are on this one. ;) But I think the existing owner has done damage to the bodywork a couple of times. It has been repaired but things like that rear panel are not replaceable. A skilled person could repair it though.

Wheels are 14-inch rallyes. The car is pretty original. All numbers matching. Still has the rim blow steering wheel but I can't remember if it worked or (like many) has had the horn moved to the wheel center push button.

I am sure I did a full fender tag de-code on it so I will have a look tonight.

It was. But this thread is not about me. ;)

That was one of the ones taken one very cold January a night or two before Trevor had to go off and help invade Iraq. Most of them were very blurred because I didn't think to take a tripod. Plus it is hard to keep a camera still when you are shivering.

There was ice from my breath on the inside of my windscreen on the way home. No heater remember.

In my view, that car is just begging to have it's black vinyl roof re-fitted...nicely specced car too.

Actually to be completely accurate one bit is probably wrong.
128638 - Plant sequential number (28638th car of all types down the line that model year)
Now that statement assumed (as all the books and most "experts" will tell you) that the 1970 production line started with car number 100001.

However I know that (at least in the case of Hamtramck production) the earliest cars known had VINs starting much higher than that. So the numbers were a few hundred behind before production even started.

Also cars were not produced in order of their VIN sequence number. This is because VINs were allocated well before the cars were built and they tried to build similar cars together in groups. Often cars coming down the production line together would have VINs hundreds apart.

Here is a photo of an un-restored and completely original Western Sport Special. Note the side moulding and whitewall tyres. Also note the decal on the rear quarters.

You just never see these restored as they should be. Which is a pity.
