Yes, I still have that article (somewhere) where KS drove the Hemi Challenger. It later became a mini-slot called Hemi Corner where IIRC KS raced it from time to time.
I remember the test you mention Sandy where KS was not that impressed but then got told not to be afraid to bury it! Once he did he was shocked that such a big car could possibly accelerate as quickly!
One of the articles that made an impression on me as a kid and led me down the Mopar path!!

Found this on an internet book review site written by someone called Andy Kirk I think?

Isn’t it interesting how certain events can leave a lasting impression? Like way back in 1979, when I was given the opportunity to ride in a Hemi Challenger around the streets of Waterloo, in London. I’d only just joined Business Publications, as a staffer on Hot Car magazine, and editor, Keith Seume, had made the acquaintance of American car enthusiast, Martin Thomas (I think that was his name), who worked for an oil company and just happened to have a Hemi Challenger. The amazing thing is that he was happy to loan it to the magazine for a few days every now and then when he was away on business. It was my first real taste of raw American horsepower and it was hard to believe something so large could accelerate so quickly – and sound so amazingly brutal.

I guess your board members know more facts than book editors anyhow. Thanks for the update
