The oil slinger was fitted like this when i dismantled the motor. Is it correct?
this is what is shown in my book , only 3 bolts holding the thrust plate on ( you have one that is not an original bolt . on both the 318 and 360 i have rebuilt one of the bolts has a hole through it to allow oil to run through it and drop onto the oil tab.
now get off the beach you lazy (read lucky) surfer dude and get it back together

Hooray, thanks to all .Kev, I fitted it as you suggested, with only 3 bolts and one for the oil. The pic I posted was wrong, i just wanted you guys to confirm. Problem was, that the 318 which i dismantleed was my guide and the Ch**y mechanic had fitted it wrong.
Matt thanks for the info on front crank oil seal, i'll take due note.
The beach was lovely, the surf is due at the end of the week and I WILL post picsof completed motor. First one of these ive done. I seem to spend every other minute fixing my mates Vespa (cos i know abit about those)
Gratious surf pic enclosed

This thread is about camshaft thrust plate. it should be installed with all four bolts. The one in the top left has a hole in it. This lets oil into the camchain area this drips on the chain and oil slinger (the disc infront of the camchain) this "slings" the oil around the camchain area.

Thanks men, its getting clearer. it may be pedantic/or stupid but in the diagram of the cam thrust plate it appears as if the little tab on the oil thrower locates into the bottomright hole (of the thrust plate). Thats whats been confusing me throughout (and still is)
I'll get the top left bolt drilled to allow oil thru
