Autometer tacho install

Post by Anonymous »

Hi all, does anyone have a tacho wiring diagram?
I have left it in the garage now, but I am sure it has 4 wires.
a black/red/white and a green? it has the shift light built in.
Also the car is a charger, any sugestions on where to fit it? the dash top is pretty good and only has one small crack.
Thanks
Morgan

White wire = dash lighting

Red wire = 12v

Black wire = ground

Green wire = -ve of coil or the tach output from your MDs and the like.

You the man Dave, thanks for that, a few thing have got me down today.
Hopefully once I have got most of these dials sorted, and the valve body it will start!

Hi

I have just been wiring a tacho in my Coronet (to replace the clock that doesn't work).

The problem I have is that when I turn the car off the needle rests at 1000 rpm rather than at zero. But if I then turn to ign then off it resets to zero like it should.

Followed instructions correctly from box (which were the same as above) - any ideas?

Thanks

Martin

People often look at my tach and assume it is damaged because it will point to anything from 1000-1500 rpm when I switch the engine off.

Completely normal.

I remember it mentioned it in the Autometer fitting instructions I had?

mine stops anywhere between 1000 to 1500 also, an it does say that is normal in the manual
