upper ball joint removal

Having difficulty removing ball joint from UCA. Anton has lent me the correct
socket however even using a long breaker bar it will not shift. not wanting ti damage tool or UCA anyone got any tips for removal.

Clean up any visible threads with a wire brush,then get some heat on the uca

heat the threaded ring of the control arm with torch a little !! don't have to go mad & get it red or anything !! then give it some with a breaker bar , wear gloves also ,

thats how i done mine , should of left it on the car to do it though as ended up moving the steel 3 meter work bench that was bolted to the floor !! with control arm in vice all round the garage while trying to undo it with a breaker bar !! two seconds of heating with a torch !! easy :thumbright:

Thanks for the input guys did try a little heat earlier but was worried about distorting UCA. will have another go in the morning :thumbright:

Thanks for the tip guys obviously a bit to cautious with the blowtorch on first attempt, but even after heating these things are bloody tight but out now :thumbright:

A breaker bar and a for foot length of galv steel tube on the end was my preferred method, still a bit worried about putting that much force into something made of pressed steel but it works ;)

I know Jerry tried that same method, ended up snapping his breaker bar :shock:

More brute force, heat & new breaker bar, they eventually succumbed :D
