And dont forget the us brake nuts are different to ours , ors have a lead on them there's do not , ours will not screw in so far before tightning up so you only have a couple of threads bight

Dont know if Drum/Drum Chargers have them but my Proportioning valve was 'cattle trucked' after it had been standing a long while, gave me very little brake stopping ability

Note bleeding sequence...as Rebel said :thumbright:
Rebel wrote:Did you start bleeding them at the back of the car?

Sequence should be furthest wheel away from the master cylinder first, ending with wheel closest to the master cylinder.

hope this helps

Sorta like this...

The UK type will screw in to the US type but because of the unthreaded bit on the end of the UK type (the lead) you don't get full thread engagement. You may only have a couple or 3 threads holding them in- Quite possible they could pop out under high pressure

I had to do this to get my pipes off (replaced them all). However, you *may* get lucky with one of these. Gets a proper grip without rounding them off. Worth a go...

Other than that, cut them off and a socket. I had to hammer one on it was so rounded !

very interesting thanks for clearing that up:thumbright:

I ended up replacing everything apart from the master and the wheel cylinders

Brakes are really good now (apart from egged front drums):?

Went into local car shop for a little bit of pipe to put over nipple into bottle
for £1.50 i got a pipe with a one way valve in it.(one man bleed kit) brilliant :thumbright:

What size front drums do you have as I converted to discs and still have my whole drum set up.

Hi You don't need a pipe with a valve in it, as I said in mypost post above just leave it bleed by gravity no need for pumping I've been changing brake parts for 35 years on my own and 99 times out of a 100 there fine :thumbright:

It does confuse the hell out of people standing watching though I get the "arn't you going to bleed those" but they have been bleeding all the time I've been fit them? and if you have air still in the system you light on the dash will come on.

More modern cars can be a problem though!

Not sure i will have to check on that.

My plan was to drive it back to germany on the 2nd but i dont think that is going to happen now. I think i will trailer it back to germany and then rip the car apart there.
