Front pad identification in UK - Aussie Val

Post by VGVIP »

Hi.

Am looking for a set of the pads in the below diagram, they fit VJ & VK Aussie Valiant Girlock callipers.
Looks like someone swapped my original VG Girlock callipers for later model ones at some point.
These are definitely what I need.

The diagram is from am Aussie supplier and I have been unable to find similar publications for the UK market to see if the same pad is available here before I get a set sent from oz.

Can anyone help please?

Thanks
Steve

OK they are like mine i think and i Have VJ

i had to import

however

next time i'd just send them here and get new stuff bonded on

http://www.autoandindustrial.co.uk/

they did my clutch

impressive website

but its really just a man in a shed covered in dust (both man and shed)

quick turn around....

i have a spare set of VH calipers and pads

i'll check if the VH pads look like the ones you list

I know full well VH differs from VJ as i made that mistake and had to re order

are you sure its VJ/K

Hi Dave.

About 99% sure it's going to be VJ/VK. They look to be the same calliper as the HJ/HX Holdens that received cast iron Girlocks.

VG/VH pads should be the ones in the below diagram.
VG/VH callipers have very obvious slider pins, mine don't.
From what Terry told me a few weeks ago and I subsequently read, the slider pin on the earlier callipers were prone to breaking.

Don't need pads right now, just planning ahead so I can send them sea mail rather than air mail.

Daily driver does not really lend itself to waiting to having new friction material riveted or bonded to the old backing plates, so I'll be getting new pads whatever way.

Will also be getting calliper seal/dust boot kit from the likes of Sunbury Brakes in Melbourne if I can not find a local equivalent calliper.

Hi Steve.

Thanks for the extract, identification of what I have against the Bendix (or ACDelco) catalogue is not a problem.
Trying to find a local equivalent is. I keep getting told that in the UK I'll need a Ferodo etc. part number.

Think I'll just give up and get them from Oz now.

Thanks for the hint about EBC.
Sadly they only cover the later Girlock pads from the 80's and all the other Aussie Ford and Holden pads from the 70's are PBR only, no Girlock (Girlock was less common than PBR in my experience).

That's interesting that they are using the Bendix part number BD1004 in that ebay advert.
ACDelco use a similar part number ACD1004.
