Better than a dent in your head from the wing :D

Well, I was right, it WAS an absolute arse to get out! :angryfire:
I bought a nice new breaker bar too but it just didn't want to play at all, even with a scaffold pole on the end of it

It was in so tight it was as if it was welded in there. This 1 just didn't want to budge at all.

Heat, heat, heat, heat and more heat. Nope. Nothing. 3 hours later I got Bananarama! off with it, so out came the grinder.

It soon budged then ;)

Well, it still took another 1/2 hour to get it out, but I got there

Upper arm all cleaned up, it was time to install the bushes.

The good thing about doing the opposite side a week before was that this time I knew to removed the outer sleeves of the old bushes from the arm BEFORE attempting to put the new bushes in  ( shh Jerry :-$ )

Once the bushes were installed, the new ball joint went in a treat and a coat of paint was applied.

The next job was to sort out the Electronic Ignition Conversion.

I bought a dizzy from Bacca (Cheers Jon) and bought a new ECU and plug from the states.

All arrived ok, and when I came to do the job, I put the plug onto the ECU and somehow managed to snap off a pin #-o

At first I thought 'ere we go. You get what you pay for I guess.

My fault I know as I was trying to save a few pennies, but it cost me more in the end. Turned out it was the plug and not the cheap Chinese ECU
Something was obviously not right up in there somewhere, but it got sussed out and now fits as it should on the new one.

Anyway, a replacement ECU arrived at the weekend (a much better quality one) and the job was sorted, along with a new coil and, well, lets just say what a difference ;)
She now starts literally first turn of the key.
No more winding and winding and pumping of the gas pedal.
She is on the button now make no mistake :thumbright:

This is 1 conversion that's well worth doing.

Just got to tidy up the wiring now as the light was against us on sunday.

:D

Update ......

Although I had already cleaned up the dash on the '68, I wasn't too happy with the gauge faces.
The white paint just looked grubby against the black faces, and there were small areas of the faces that I didn't like either :(
Very small bits of surface rust were starting to come through.
Unfortunately at the time, I didn't have enough paint or equipment to do what I wanted to do, so back in Feb I decided to buy what I needed, strip the dash out again and have a go at painting them up properly.......
Came out real nice :thumbright:

Also fitted a new Pitman arm to the steering the other weekend, as there was abit of wandering going on

New oil sender too as that gave up the ghost for some reason or another :dontknow: (1- 1/16 socket incase you were wondering  )

Beats using mole grips anyway

Also put abit of carpet and some door cards in at the weekend too (Thanks Tim for the door cards :thumbright: )

Looks presentable now :D

Gauge faces look excellent :thumbright:

How did you do the white on the black, mask up & paint or free hand with a brush ?

Free hand with a paint pen .....

Different size nibs. They work a treat :thumbright:

They're like a miniature rattle can. Shake like hell sending the little ball mad inside  , then press the nib down to get the paint flowing.
Keep some kitchen roll handy to wipe away excess from nib before application, then it's just like drawing :)

I tried ages ago with a brush (like a touch up stick).
Result was a bag of Bananarama!!
