rays dart is 3,100 with driver that has an honest 700-20 hp and runs 9.7s

that is one hell of a 440 to make that sort of power and i would think would need to flow enough air to rev around 8,000rpms tpo make that hp

Yeah, I think I'm a bit out with the ET's/weight etc Dunc...was basing it on my 9.96 at 3300lb at about 630hp +100hp for the PPM motor which is normally 8th's or so worth....but I guess it don't quite work like that always.......would've thought ray could do a bit better than 9.7's though.at 700/3100?
he has a glide in the car lez and maybe that is hurting it a little, reason for this is it came with the car as a roller and was new never run the converter is also not matched to his engine/car combination i think longterm it should go 9.50.s,
and it might weigh a bit more going off lod information on that,

have you seen the hemi darts/barracudas now lez ??? barton and other builders are making 900-1000 hp from a iron 426 hemi i think they leave the line at 6,000 and take em to 9,000 massive money engines 50,000 us dollars and more but amazing power,

google barton on utube built some magic engines,

Yeah I was thinking 9.4>5's meself, sure he'll get there with a bit more track time.

Was trying to find that barton thingy..all I cam up with was this

You can understand that hp when you can buy crate hemi's at 650>700 on 10.5:1 CR. Bump to 14:1 with a few changes and your sort of there.....
Boy I wished I could've got my hands on 1 when I was racing... only a handful of hemi cars around even then so not much chance...sorry to say this but bit of a waste of an engine in the Dinger Cuda...wonder where I could've gone with that engine built right....8's w/sniff....would've been the fastest back halved UK slammer in them days I think, could've give a bit of competition to them invading swedes with there quick cars......wishful thinking eh?

YOUR RIGHT LEZ oops i ended up with that hemi block and all his old tat sold it on as i went aftermarket block but someone researched it and it turned out to be a wanted block nos to a superstocker in the usa the guy got a right result from it, in all fairness a lot of the parts they had were tat but they did ultimately get a 9 with it, but i agree nicely put together good heads etc that hemi would off sang.. low 9,s for sure i think we all underachieve a bit in this country but a lot is down to our track time and being laid back lazy buggers with a bottle off bud when we should be tuning,

I am wondering, if that six pack is a 440, if they have gone for as big a bore as possible and with a shorter stroke. Then you could maybe get it to run high rpms to make that HP.

You can only make that power with big heads or high RPM. Or a bit of both.

Do the rules allow for bore/stroke changes as long as the displacement is the same?

I am not certain of the rules regarding this class .But i THINK stock crank can be offset ground, bore as big as you dare,,,,They almost rebuild whats left of the runners after porting with resin ....Not sure about the cam.....I know in there stock class the cam has to run the same lift as factory specs i.e i think the 383 was .430 lift from the factory,, so your cam can be any way you like it but .430 is its lmit...I know Glens cam is all revs on the line,,,, Lifters are them fancy ceramic coated ones cost a bomb, anything else would not survive, because of the aggresive nature of the cam profile....,,,small verter and bang wheels up mentle 100 ft then driving miss daisy for the rest of the track...Les ,,hows sunny Enfield??? remember you from back when i lived in Edmonton,,,LOng looooong time ago,,you lived in Tottenham if i am correct???,,,,,

I nearly bought that Hemi myself in the late 80's when Gary Jauncey had it, it had come via Gary Mills and Dave Rose. It was £2500 and I figured once I pulled it apart it would be pretty much used up and something of a money pit so I passed....

Hi Pete, sunny enfield is ok, not as nice as when we moved there in 1990.just after I got married....now full of...........£$%^&*(%&^)...but still ok, we moved round the corner from our flat to a Bungalow in a quiet road..no probs.
Yeah Tottenham is a thing of the past thank christ, if you catch my "Just like to say hello thread"...there's a bit about how I came home just before the riots started in there.
Only good thing about tottenham was I saw and bought my first yank..a '68 Dodge Charger from a guy who had it parked in his front garden..rest is history now.

So still into muscle then Pete?.....what you got mate, what are you running?.....Les

Your prob right there Dunc.....unless your gonna enter into competition racing like I did..getting a car well sorted isn't easy, while some were Bananarama! it up in the tent at the disco, I was changing the camshaft in the 340 to see if it was worth a few tenths..stuff like that...my mind was full of nothing else but what can I do to make it go a bit faster, have I got the right parts etc, but when your single its easy to devote the time....

Although as you said before..once you know your stuff..you can set a car up from the off to run within a few tenths of its best, the rest is playing

I saw the Rossi SS Car run a 10.00, that was its best I think, they may have dipped it in the 9.9's........?

So the PPM motor should be very similar? but we don't know cos the rules may be different to US SS class....same car...approx 3300lb w/driver as a guesstimate, maybe lighter now? + 700hp = 9.7's at 137 once sorted.

Anyone have any info yet on its times.....proofs in the old pud...

The Swedes run the same rules as the US which are the NHRA rules....WE run some made up set rules which equals pro et and super et and anything in between as long as it ends in et
