I can get 15mpg if I cruise at 70 mph on the motorway. Usually more like 10-12 though. Stock 440 with 484 cam, 3.23 gears and 275/60 tyres.

One of the reasons I find it hard to let go of the Corvette. 17 mpg average but 25 mpg on a long run.

In those 50mph roadworks on the A1 I was getting 30mpg.

But it is *only* 350hp.

Well Mick with the times it runs in basically an Old skool car, that's about as good as it gets. You clearly selected the combinations very well. :thumbright:

My Challenger did 13mpg on a long run,
about 4mpg average around town,
and at WOT on the track you would probably have had to measure it in yards per gallon.

I did the 120mile run up to York cupla years ago doing steady '65' on mway and used a 750vac and worked it out to about 14mpg based on the fill up.
Bananarama! tough keeping the box cool with 3000 stall and gay gears at that speed.

About what I expected. My old 383 Coronet did the same so this engine is doing well.

Those of you that think you can get 20mpg out of these cars and be able to drive them are dreaming. :D
thats sound about what I used to get with the old red 493 runner, but hand on my heart my stock/gay gears 383 runner used to use very little fuel compared to this, dont know exactly but proabably half what the red runner would use or about the same as what my 318 sat would use which also though wasnt eveil on fuel.
Green coronet is real evil can just about get to our local, 20 mile away cruise & back on a 50 ltr fuel cell

Hand on heart I used to get "up to" 20mpg out of my Challenger when it had a 750 Edelbrock on the stock iron dual plane manifold, stock HP exhaust manifolds, 284 duration MP cam, 2800 stall converter, and 3.23 gears.
