After a lot more investigating I've found the maker of the cars - The Allan Herschell Company. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Allan_Herschell_Company

From the clothing on the people and look of the print I would have said mid-50s.

Fuselage is now stripped and sanded down from 120 through to 1200 grit.

Here's a glimpse of one of the tail fins. The ends of the fins weren't perfectly circular and were a mm or so out. A good friend of mine spun up some 'caps' that are the exact diameter as the Caddy lights. They were
then blended in by Larry Ward.

And don't worry Pete, I won't restore anything that shouldn't.

As an example, I've just bought a couple of gorgeous Waltzer cars. Fantastic original fairground artwork. They won't get touched apart from refurbishing the upholstery :thumbright:

Had a look at that site :thumbright: i am amazed what people will pay for old junk

I know where some of those old factory lights are in a derelict site, tempted to go and liderate them now and turn them into a £360 each lamp shade :D

£360 also for lamp shades made from old grame rphones,if it is not a rare one i have seen gramer phones well under £100 a bit of work and £260 profit.
