OK for those of you that may be interested the hard work started yesterday most of which was spent getting the new Meziere starter to fit & mesh correctly with the starter ring. Bit of time with a mill & lathe sorted that. Then we started today with a thorough clean up of all the motor ancillaries before bolting in the long block.

Then on with the intake

Followed by the front mount mag

Meanwhile the Rossler transmission was refitted after changing the pump for a new & improved version.

Most of the electrikery is now done, just a bit of tidying up to do & it will be ready to test to see if the new custom made loom works, I don't know if any of you had looked at it, but for the last couple of years (since we went turbo) the wiring has evolved to such an extent that it looked like a couple of plate fulls of spaghetti, it was always the plan to do a full rewire once we knew what worked as regards getting the car to launch properly.

Sorry for picture quality, didn't take a camera with me. Should be a few more updates before the first test session.

Thanks for the in sight :thumbright:

Regarding the AMS, do you use CO2 across the waste gates or is that not allowed ?

When I 1st saw the car, just before it left Andy R, it was one of the lowest cars, I had ever seen, last time I saw it, it looked as though it had been raised, what was the reason for that ?

Sorry for the questions

Thanks for the +ve comments, Pete the ignition is an MSD Mag but you don't need a six shooter with the BS3, spark & fuel are mapped this way. When we had a clutch we had antilag which pulled timing when you were going in to stage, which was to build pressure, but now you can load the motor against the convertor the antilag is no longer.
Basically you all you have to do is control the boost to control the torque & it has taken the last couple of years to work it all out, when we started with the turbo deal it was generally thought that the motor would make massive amounts of torque with a very narrow power band (bit like a diesel but at higher rpm), oh how wrong we were. Initially we started with a 5 speed Lenco but it kept rattling the tyres so much that we went 4 then 3 speed & still couldn't get the car off the line without massive tyre shake. In the end the decision was made to go auto, most of the Stateside turbo cars have gone this route & if the likes of them with far more money & track time couldn't get a clutch to work then what chance have we?
There is a Racepak data logger which records everything possible. The BS3 also has it's own logging.
Mark, yes the AMS uses CO2 across the waste gates, this has been where we have had a few problems, hopefully now ironed out, can't say too much at the moment though! I don't think the car has been raised although when it first came out of Andy's shop the hat for the blower was above the roofline so we had to raise the rear end a tiny bit IIRC.
Pete (the other one), yes the body is carbon fibre, your car is no sloth though matey & it's probably more fun than this! You keep at it.
Pete W again, the chassis is still pretty much the same as when Andy built it, apart from the rear suspension which has been changed to a more conventional style.
Will, just have a look through some of these https://www.youtube.com/results?search_ ... g1GgUTUW2g
I will put up more next time we have a session but that's a few weeks away. I will answer questions where possible & I would love to be able to show you what goes on inside the motor as Rob Loaring (ICE) has done some pretty special stuff for us, but I can't because that is what will hopefully give us the edge over the competition.
Cheers Rob

Rob,
Thanks for the replies, it's always great to get a little insider knowledge.

Not attempting to compare, but boost controls is one of my areas of concern, unknowns. Hence my question on the AMS, as was undecided if to use CO2, but will most likely go that root.

Good luck with your preparations & for the forthcoming season.
