Cheers gang.
Because I'm trying to keep the car to a budget at the moment I'm going to put them on as they are. Not an expensive set of headers just trying to keep her rolling. Perhaps a future upgrade.

Given that they are Headman, you will probably have to cut them up and stitch them back together to make them fit - and then aluminium coated ;)

That is what I had to do, well - Blue did a great job on my 'Cuda Headman Headers ;) ;)

Are they that bad Pete ?
Had it in mind they wouldn't be a direct fit after the hookers come off but didn't expect to be getting the welder out !!!

Mine were really grim.
Hopefully things have changed, but we had to cut and shut header tubes and re-weld them; not just twat them with a Bananarama! off hammer........

It really was a nighmare and I was very glad for Blue's assistance as it would have been (at the time) a throw in the bin job.............

I learned the valuable lesson of not to skimp on Headers and have been a TTI man ever since:-

Sox Barracuda.
67 Dart.
69 Daytona.
Super Bee

I KNOW it is expensive, but they really are fit and forget...

Hopefully gonna try and do them the weekend. I may even pop down Flowtech for a price to fit.

I was also suitably galled when my £700 Hemi Headers - Hooker Super Competition Headers - needed anihalating to get them in the Barracuda.

Well, more accurately, we had to cut the chassis rails and box them about 9 inches on both sides to get the headers in, as well as bashing them liberally when heated to clear the torsion bars AND the other bits of the chasis rails we did not cut out :evil: :evil: :evil:

Moessy68 You might need a right angle oil filter adapter otherwise you wont be able to fit the oil filter as it will hit the headers. The headers are not a big job with a small block in a B body usually you just have to jack the engine up a bit to get them in and you might have to drop the steering linkage. Should be able to do it yourself and save a bit of money :thumbright:

Good points, Dave.

You may find that the temporary solution of fitting a shorter oil filter will get you out of jail initially.

For the record, I was talking about only Big Blocks, mostly in little cars.
Fitting a little engine in a big car should be a lot easier ;) ;) ;)

Take loads of pictures for reference!!

I remember putting a set of headers on my 68 coronet it must have been back in 1977/78 it was a Saturday and we were off to the pod Sunday the headers went on easy but you couldn't get the adapters over here at the time so I ended up cutting the filter down and brazing it back together I think it was on there for about a month before we got one from the states. :thumbright:

I'm already running a smaller oil filter ( ford t bird or something ? Got it written down some where)
Forecast rain tomorrow so may steam in to it !!!!

Well worth fitting 1 of these prior to fitting the new headers ... not silly money and easy to fit ... then you can get the filter up on the bulkhead or somewhere easy to change it

Mossey68 unless they have changed the design of the headers the oil filter can't be more than 2 inch (50mm) high :thumbright:

I already have hooker headers on the car. Are Hedman that different ???

I could of almost wrote the same, except I needed to go to work, not the Pod, also my Challenger was my daily driver ;)
