Busy day today!
Axle rebuilt and refitted.
Brakes rebuilt & bled.
I found a better tyre shop- I managed to get one wheel balanced, check out the weights!!
I even polished it to celebrate :thumbright:

The other tyre however, is the dodgy one.
I'm going to try taking it off the rim, check the tube, reseat it, etc.
Obviously it won't fit on the tyre shop's bead breaker
Tomorrow I'll be inventing my own...

Wow. That's Some weight !!!
I've always found I need more weight on bikes with spoked wheels that run a tube !
Probably a connection some where ?
At least you can hide them on a car !!!!

Going well mate. Look forward to seeing it run

Hi Paul

Great to see you are working on the car and making progress, those times will come tumbling down. I'm with you on the manual trans and take the good with the bad.

I hope you get it all sorted soon now Paul with no more hassles.

Better weather is coming and you deserve to start enjoying the car with just some carb tweeks to do perhaps.

Post up about the DP carb and spacer combo, let us know what its like.

All the best

Yup, roads are pretty clean of salt and drying nicely so I'll be back out asap!

There's nothing I can do about my wobbly tyre, I'll just have to put up with and hope it settles a bit with use [-o<

Plan for the next couple of weeks is-
Tuneup the 750 vac.
Swap for the 750 dp and tune that, see what difference it makes.
Slip in the 2" spacer and see what that does!
I'll most likely sell the vac carb then and look out for an 850 ;)

Wish I was wrong mate that could've been cheap, but there aren't many real bargains on the bay....I agree with Adrian, if you can borrow his and tune it, thats the best way, if your happy with the performance increase for the road, and there will be some, then spend your ££'s, an 850 set up right will deffo perform a few 1/10ths at the track with your car, but your only there once or twice a year.......for now ;)

Had a fantastic afternoon blasting round today :D
I left the hood off, and took my box of jets, pump cams and tools and went up and down various local bits of dual carriageway.
Hoon, stop, tinker, hoon... repeat... :D

I've ended up with the orange pump cam which kicks in a bit sooner and stronger for the 1st half of it's stroke.
Primary mains now 73 (up from 70)
Secondaries still 86.

At idle- AFR 15.5ish, vac 5.
On full noise AFR 13-14

Now the mixture's close I felt confident to properly nail it to 6000 through the gears and it pulls like a train!
I think I'll call it quits with this carb and fit the dp.

Good news-
Not a drop of oil from the axle! All that cost me was new fluid.

Bad news-
It jammed in 2nd once. I had to lever the linkage free with a screwdriver.
The wonky rear tyre. It's bloody awful at anything over 75, but no way can I afford £3-400 to replace it :?
Front strut top bearing set-up is 5hite. I've ordered a pair of spherical bearings and I'll weld in a housing for them.
