Took me forever to get my upper arms off too! Hell of a Bananarama! job! I wanted to keep the arms so ended up buying a recipricating saw & after what seemed like hours finally managed to get them out.
Good job on the lower arms, they are looking good. Keep the updates coming Morgan.
And a few pics of your car wouldn't go a miss either!

Did a few more bits today (actually got a couple of hours). Decided to tackle the front ant-roll mounts. (getting the new ones in is going to be a hoot. Some end up splitting and re-welding. Still, we'll have a go... )
Here it is before I started. Took me ages to drill and dig enough of the old rubber out to remove the mount from the bar, but eventually they came off. WD40 is your friend !
Spent about an hour with a wire brush on a drill stripping and polishing the bar. Had its first coat of paint - like the suspension arms I have used an alloy wheel paint. Moderately durable, and a really good colour, sort of dark silver - touch of gunmetal. The mounts are being painted black.

Also decided to tackle the new UCA. Basically, having sought advice, I have concluded that the lovely control arms were let down by the bolts. The small bolts shown were just that, threaded bolts. This has got to be subject to wear, having a thread. Decided to source some shanked bolts (gold ones below). Had a bit of a result actually, found a GREAT supplier to EVERYTHING bolt wise (Trident, based at Silverstone). Took the arms along, explained my issue, they dug out some mega high tensile aircraft spec bolts (stronger than the ones supplied).Job done (or so I thought).
Of course, being American grade engineering
naturally the bolts didn't quite go through all holes - some were a couple-o-thou too small
. Basically, what I did was gentle ticked around the edge (like a de-burr) using my pillar drill and took *just* enough out for a lovely snug fit. Job done.
Nothing ever simple huh ?

Quick update - been a while.
On our way. All parts are prep'd and bolting up underway. Just thought I would share a couple of underway pics for you all.
First off was the spash shields. Mine were a right state - been meaning to do them since I got the car many moons ago. Came by a set on the forum, so set about minor mods to fit the charger. Basically it meant fitting a little mount for the wind (different on a charger to a RR). Came up really nice though.
The void behind the old shields (which I was sort of dreading) turned out to be in really good nick (phew) so that got a quick coat of metal treatment and a minor waxoyl spray. Looks great.
New rubber were from ebay (DMT - Detroit muscle technology) repro and fit great. Looks 100 times better. V pleased.
Have begun test alignment. BIG hotchkis torsion bars are in - I have learned the hard way on the order. I will start a list I think for the thread "stuff wot I hav lerned". Teaching you lot to suck eggs I realize.
Had to stop for the night due to ANOTHER little hitch (see separate thread in the 'help' section). Sure I will be underway again soon.
Enjoy... even if its just amusing for you all.

Roger did my charger when I first got it and it crabbed along the road cross-eyed. Even working with the scabby old adjustment on it he transformed the car - fantastic job.
Yes - its definitely going back to monkfish when I get it sorted - top work. Oh, then back via Bletchley if the kettles on, obviously...

Slowly slowly.
Yet to find a piece that goes on in less than 2 hours. But its on the way. Bit stiff to move at the moment (tightish fit) but will calm down.
The adjustment on these things is epic. I reckon I can move then 2 inches fore and aft just on the threads !!

More to bore. Slowly monkey.
Interestingly, side 1 took weeks. Side 2 took 2.5hours.
Easier when you know the order, mods and pitfalls aint it ?

Getting towards the end. Quite understand if lost interest - I know I have. Anyway - on the home straight, final push etc. Should be rolling tomorrow.
Tonights crap is that I managed to break the grease gun.
so stopped for the night - getting tired, doing silly things.
Anyway, couple of pics to prove the REALLY good news - the oversize wildwood kit DOES fit under 15" wheels (I measured a dozen times, but given they only say 'may fit under some 15" wheels" I wasn't 101%...) - Anyway, all fits in there, plenty of room. Happy bunny on that front at least.
Tally ho...
